Mary Hawley, Program Author, Instructional Design: Ms. Hawley has more than twenty years of experience developing successful K-12 instructional products, including ELL products for National Geographic, Hampton Brown, Pearson/Scott Foresman, and Learning Resources. From 2001 to 2003, she was Editorial Director for ELL and Spanish Language Arts programs at Hampton Brown. Prior to that, Ms. Hawley was Editorial Director of the Department of Bilingual Programs at Scott Foresman. She was a bilingual classroom teacher and migrant resource teacher in South Bend, Indiana, and holds an M.A. in Education from Columbia College.

Kate Boehm Jerome, Program Author, Science: Ms. Jerome has worked with parents, teachers, administrators, and students for more than 25 years to develop programs that promote academic excellence. She began her career as a high school biology teacher but soon discovered the world of educational publishing where she quickly rose through the ranks to become the first female president of Scott Foresman publishing company. Following her successful corporate career, Ms. Jerome returned to writing and has authored more than 80 science books for children. Her programs have earned three NSTA/CBC Outstanding Science Trade Books Awards and a Teachers’ Choice Award.
